Graston Technique

What is the Graston Technique?

The Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. That's a fancy way of saying we use specially designed stainless steel tools to help treat problems in your muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues.

The Graston Technique is particularly effective for chronic conditions, repetitive stress injuries, and even old injuries that didn't heal properly. It can help with issues like tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, and many sports injuries.

What Does The Graston Technique Look Like?

We use these stainless steel instruments to 'scan' your body. They help us feel for any abnormalities in your soft tissues, like scar tissue or adhesions. It's like running a smooth stone over a piece of fabric - we can feel where the fabric isn't smooth.

Once we find these problem areas, we use the tools to apply controlled pressure and specific movements. This helps break up scar tissue and adhesions that might be causing pain or limiting your movement.

By breaking up these adhesions, we're essentially restarting your body's healing process. It increases blood flow to the area and can stimulate the production of new, healthy tissue.

You might experience some mild discomfort during the treatment, and you may have some bruising afterward. But many patients report feeling looser and more flexible even after their first session.
