With 30 years of experience in acupuncture, John Donald, L.Ac, EAMP, has studied with master practitioners worldwide, learning a variety of techniques to address complex conditions. His personal approach blends multiple methods, customized to each patient’s needs.
Education and Training
John began his acupuncture training in 1995, earning his Master's Degree from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Seattle, WA. Since 1998, John has been a certified Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed by the State of Washington.His education includes:
- Two years of supervised clinical internships in public health clinics, detox and prison facilities, private practices, and a homeless youth clinic.
- Cross-disciplinary training in Chinese, Japanese, and Western acupuncture styles
- Extensive training with Richard Tieh-Fu Tan, a renowned master practitioner from Taiwan, including a preceptorship at his clinic in San Diego, CA.
- Moderating the first online forum dedicated to students of Master Tan’s Balance Method.
- Advanced training in Japanese acupuncture and Ion Pumping Cord therapy from multiple teachers.
- Functional medicine education, allowing him to incorporate targeted nutritional support into treatment plans.

John has dedicated his career to refining his acupuncture practice, blending traditional and modern techniques to provide personalized treatments. His approach prioritizes gentle needling techniques, ensuring both comfort and effectiveness.

In his personal life, John and his family have called Bellingham home for over a decade, enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

John also coaches youth baseball and finds joy in making music with his family. His passion for health and well-being extends beyond his profession—he brings a deep commitment to his community, his patients, and his family.
