Advanced Sports Chiropractic and Massage is excited to welcome Hunter Laporte to our team! We sat down with Hunter to talk about their path into massage therapy, what clients can expect from a session, and what makes them tick outside of work.
Tell us about your background and training.
Hunter is a graduate of Whatcom Community College's LMT program, bringing up-to-date massage therapy techniques to every session.
What drew you to massage therapy as a career?
"There are several health professionals in my family, and I found myself growing to appreciate the field more and more. My favorite parts of my previous jobs were always times when I was able to help others, whether that be my fellow employees or guests. Massage therapy seemed like a wonderful environment for me to work in, allowing me to help multiple people a day."
What do you specialize in, and what do you enjoy most?
"I quite enjoy a mix of massages, as I find there is a lot to learn from each modality. If I had to pick one, however, it would have to be working with clients who have chronic pain who are looking for help after an injury. It is immensely rewarding to be able to assist them through their healing and help alleviate stressors or pain."
What should a first-time client expect?
"First-time clients can expect a brief consultation before we start. I want to understand what brings them in and what their goals are for the session, as well as future sessions. We'll be working together to ensure they're as comfortable as possible while making progress towards their greater goal."
What's your philosophy around massage and healing?
"Massage can be a wonderful addition to many people's healing journeys. Whether it is simply to provide rest and relaxation, or a more focused, treatment-based massage, I believe that massage can benefit anyone."
Outdoors or indoors?
"I'm certainly a mix of both! I have been to the many parks of Bellingham more times than I can count, but that doesn't mean you won't find me enjoying a nice book at the end of a long day."
How does living in the PNW factor into your life?
"Bellingham and the greater PNW have been my home my entire life. The verdant greenery is something that I have come to treasure, as well as Bellingham's older architecture. The access to nature through the trails, the coastline, and the mountains is something I will never take for granted."
Anything else you'd like clients to know?
"I'd like clients to know that their safety and comfort are my top priority. There's no pressure to push through anything that doesn't feel right; we'll be working together at whatever pace works for them."
To celebrate Hunter joining the team, we're offering a limited-time cash massage package:
