Meet Avery Petro, LMT

  • July 29, 2026

Advanced Sports Chiropractic and Massage is excited to welcome Avery Petro to our team! We sat down with Avery to talk about his training, approach to bodywork, and what clients can expect from a session.

Tell us about your background and training.

"I recently completed my massage therapy training and clinical hours and am excited to begin my professional career in the field. Since graduating, I've continued building on my education through additional training in cupping therapy to further support my interest in therapeutic and recovery focused bodywork.

My approach centers around integrative bodywork, blending therapeutic and relaxation based techniques to create sessions that feel intentional, effective, and personalized to each client. My training includes deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, Swedish massage, cupping therapy, and table Thai massage techniques, allowing me to tailor sessions to goals such as pain relief, recovery, stress reduction, mobility, and overall wellness."

What first drew you to massage therapy as a career?

"Movement, fitness, and personal growth have always been important parts of my life. Over time, I became more interested in how the body heals, adapts, and responds to intentional care. Massage therapy stood out to me because it combines hands-on work, problem solving, communication, and the ability to help people feel better both physically and mentally.

There wasn't necessarily one defining moment that led me here. It was more of a growing realization that I wanted a career that felt meaningful and connected to helping others while continuing to learn and grow myself."

What types of massage do you enjoy most?

"I especially enjoy therapeutic massage, deep tissue work, and recovery focused sessions with an integrative bodywork approach. I enjoy helping clients reduce tension, improve mobility, and feel more connected to their body and movement.

I've also completed training in cupping therapy and enjoy incorporating techniques inspired by table Thai massage and other integrative approaches when appropriate for the client's needs. I'm passionate about continuing to expand my skills throughout my career."

What can a first-time client expect from a session with you?

"Clients can expect a calm, professional, and welcoming environment where their comfort level and goals are prioritized. I like to take time to understand what each client is experiencing, whether that's pain, stress, tension, mobility restrictions, or recovery needs, and tailor the session accordingly.

I also believe communication is an important part of bodywork, especially for first time clients. My goal is to help people feel comfortable, heard, and supported throughout the session while providing thoughtful, individualized care."

What's your philosophy around massage and healing?

"I believe massage is most effective when it's approached as both recovery and maintenance. Healing is rarely just one session. Consistency, awareness, movement, and intentional care all work together over time.

I also believe every person's body and experience are different, which is why individualized care and communication matter so much to me. Massage is not just about reducing tension, but also about helping clients reconnect with their body, improve mobility, manage stress, and create space for recovery and balance."

Are you more of an outdoor enthusiast or an indoor homebody?IMG_2401_VSCO (1)

"Definitely more of an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy staying active, exploring new places, and spending time outside whenever I can. A lot of my interests revolve around movement, including soccer, calisthenics, acro hand balancing, and trail running.

Living in the Pacific Northwest has also played a big role in shaping my lifestyle. Being surrounded by mountains, forests, and water naturally keeps me active and connected to nature."

What do you do to take care of yourself?

"I try to build routines that keep me grounded mentally and physically. A big part of my self care is making time for recovery through mobility work, stretching, spending time outdoors, and simply slowing down after busy days.

I've also been making my health more of a priority through the way I eat by cooking more for myself and focusing on cleaner, healthier meals at home. For me, self care is about listening to what my body needs and creating habits that support a healthy and sustainable lifestyle."

Anything else you'd like clients to know before booking their first appointment?

"I genuinely care about creating a positive and comfortable experience for every client. I want people to feel respected, supported, and comfortable communicating what their body needs from the moment they walk in.

Whether someone is looking for recovery work, stress relief, pain management, or general maintenance, my goal is to provide thoughtful care that's tailored to the individual. I want clients to leave not only feeling better physically, but also feeling relaxed, supported, and taken care of overall."
