# In Her Own Words: Shasonta’s Success Story

What an amazing weekend at CrossFit Northwest Regionals. With the help of Dr.Curtis (Advanced Sports Chiropractic) and the Active Release Technique (ART), I was able to kick a$$ at the competition.

Rewind to May 2011. I did something to my right arm during the Ski to Sea canoe leg. I chose to ignore what I did because the pain would come and go; it wasn’t constant. I figured if I took a couple of weeks off, it would be fine. Fast forward to December 2011. The pain in my arm was constant. I couldn’t do any overhead lifting. I started talking about getting an MRI, seeing a physical therapist, etc. I was desperate, I wanted the pain gone. I wanted to lift again. Then I heard about Dr. Curtis and the ART.

Since Bob goes to the gym I attend, I decided to talk with him about my issues and to see if ART could help. He worked on my arm for a few minutes after a class…and I couldn’t believe how much better my arm felt. A few minutes and no pain. I had hope I could get rid of the pain.

I saw Dr. Curtis on and off through the spring. My arm felt 100% by the time Regionals came. Our team competed, kicked butt, and because of ART, I was able to participate.
