How Massage Contributes to Your Health
There are quite a few studies on the benefits of massage.
One study found that Swedish massage the reduced heart rate and blood pressure of women with hypertension.
Here are two more of my favorites:
How Massage Decreases Blood Pressure
The Journal of Advanced Nursing published a study that found that, following myofascial trigger-point massage therapy, study participants experienced a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure.
This suggests that massage may support overall heart health.
How Massage Increases Alertness
It seems counter-intuitive, but a study on the effects of massage found that participants who received regular massages showed “decreased frontal alpha and beta power (suggesting enhanced alertness).”
They also showed improved speed and accuracy when working on math problems.
