Advanced Sports Chiropractic and Massage is excited to welcome Licensed Massage Therapist Annamaija Salbjerg to the team.
Annamaija brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to massage therapy, shaped by years of practice, personal growth, and a deep belief in the body’s natural ability to move toward healing.
Annamaija first entered massage therapy as a practical step, hoping it would help her earn money for school. But massage school quickly became much more than a career path.
“Massage school transformed my life and got me back in my body,” she shares. “It opened me to abilities that I had no idea I had.”
That experience sparked a deeper curiosity about healing, bodywork, and what is possible through intentional touch. Annamaija went on to pursue massage, Reiki, and craniosacral therapy, building a career around helping people reconnect with their bodies and support their health in meaningful ways.
Over the years, she has witnessed healing in ways she had not known were possible, and that sense of possibility continues to guide her work today.
Annamaija specializes in strong therapeutic massage that can feel deeply effective without forcing the body. Her work may include cupping and trigger point therapy, both of which she enjoys for the results they can provide.
Her greatest passion, however, lies in craniosacral therapy.
For Annamaija, craniosacral work reflects the power of clear, meaningful touch with intention. She is inspired by the way this subtle, focused approach can help shift the movement and consistency of tissue, supporting the body as it returns to greater balance and ease.
First-time clients can expect presence.
Annamaija describes herself as a space holder for health and healing. Her goal is to support clients as they come back into their bodies and connect with the areas that need care.
“My touch is gentle yet powerful,” she says.
Her sessions are rooted in attentiveness, respect, and a clear understanding that each person brings a unique health history, body, and set of needs to the table.
Annamaija believes the body is always directed toward healing. At times, parts of the body may become stagnant or “frozen” due to stress, physical trauma, or emotional trauma.
As a therapist, she sees her work as connecting with those areas and supporting them back into movement.
“Where there is movement there is life,” she says. “And from there, health can start to grow.”
This philosophy informs the way she approaches each session: with care, intention, and trust in the body’s ability to respond.
Annamaija grew up in Denmark, a country surrounded by water but known for its flat landscape. Living in the Pacific Northwest has been a dream come true.
She loves long hikes in the hills and mountains, as well as cold plunges in the sounds, rivers, and lakes. The green, the blue, the sun, and the rain all contribute to her sense of belonging here.
“Where I live becomes a part of me,” she says. “I have found home in Bellingham with its feeling of community and stunning nature.”
To care for herself, Annamaija spends time outdoors, moves her body, practices grounding, meditates, does yoga, and receives bodywork.
Annamaija looks forward to meeting new clients and supporting them through their unique health needs.
